Jessica Cheam

Jessica is the Founder and Managing Editor of Eco-Business, an award-winning journalist, TV presenter, director, producer, and a social entrepreneur.

She has two decades of experience in media and sustainable development and is a regular columnist for print and digital publications.  She serves as independent director for Singapore-listed companies ComfortDelGro and Wilmar International, and as an ESG Committee member for Singapore Institute of Directors. She is accredited with INSEAD’s Certificate of Corporate Governance and the CFA Institute in ESG Investing.

She also works on producing, presenting and directing documentaries, including:

• Presenting Challenge Tomorrow, a documentary collaboration with ChannelNewsAsia on climate change

• Presenting and collaborating on Tipping Point, a documentary series on the global energy revolution with ChannelNewsAsia.

• Producing and presenting From Asia to Antarctica, an Eco-Business documentary which won official selection at the Adventure Uncovered Film Festival 2018 and finalist for the prestigious Jackson Wild Media Awards in 2019

• Producing and presenting Arctic Awakening, an independent film featured in a multimedia exhibition, Changing Course 2019: An exploration of our climate crisis, at the Marina Bay Sands’ ArtScience Museum in Singapore in 2019

• Featured in the Netflix, WWF and Silverback Films documentary Our Planet: Too Big To Fail alongside global leaders exploring the role the finance sector can play powering a sustainable future.

She is the published author of 'Forging a Greener Tomorrow: Singapore's journey from slum to eco-city'. A Singapore Press Holdings scholar, she has won many journalism awards, including the Earth Journalism Awards at the UN climate change meeting, the Asian Environmental Journalism Awards, Women of the Future Southeast Asia Awards for the media and communications category, Gen.T List and named one of LinkedIn's Power Profiles.

Jessica specialises in advising the Boards of a wide range of government and multi-national organisations on ESG strategy and governance, and has a particular interest in issues at the intersection of sustainability, technology, diversity and inclusion. She is frequently invited to speak at and host discussions across the globe including at the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos on her areas of expertise.

Fraser is an award-winning filmmaker, visual journalist, author and educator focusing on environmental and human health. He has filmed factual assignments on all seven continents, including Antarctica, the Arctic and Mount Everest.

A former Fox International and ESPN producer, his work has been broadcast extensively in media over his 15-year career, including BBC, BBC Earth, Vice News, CNN, National Geographic, Channel News Asia, Vice, Bloomberg, Watebear Network, Apple TV.

His polar regions’ climate films, which he co-directed with Eco-Business managing director Jessica Cheam, were selected and won the Environmental Spotlight Award at Adventure Uncovered and Jackson Wild USA festivals. Fraser’s epilepsy documentary was shortlisted for the John Byrne Award and selected at the Cannes Film Festival Breaking Through The Lens director programme.

Fraser takes a humanistic approach to his work, aiming to connect audiences and communities with underreported or overlooked environmental and human health issues to inspire positive impact.
